JUSTIN JULIUS, DIRECTOR
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Introduced to the flooring industry by my stepdad Richard as a teen, I started my apprenticeship at Cramptons Carpets in Dubbo, Australia.
REIGNITING THE PASSION
My introduction to Sydney flooring was far beyond what I was exposed to in the country on every scale. I began working in the Hospitality and Aged Care sector of flooring, quickly developing enthusiasm for Axminster carpet (that required a lot more attention to detail than a lot of the residential works I had done beforehand).
It quickly became apparent that there was a dying quality of craftsmanship, in an industry that didn’t have many young enthusiastic installers. So, I completed my Heavy Vehicle apprenticeship and decided to solely pursue flooring.

A SLIGHT DETOUR
After spending the next few years exploring flooring across the Central West and Newcastle, I found I was needing something more. I left the industry to pursue a Heavy Vehicle Auto Electrical apprenticeship at Cadia Valley Mines in Orange. This change saw me work 7 days on, 7 days off cycle, which then left me nothing to do on my free days. So, I picked back up the flooring tools with my stepdad and began contracting for a few shops in Sydney.
FINDING PURPOSE
Our family then left the little country for the big city. Julius Flooring started with the dream to leave behind a legacy of excellence with every project we undertake. Our early days was focused on our commitment to learn whatever possible about Axminster. I was excited by the planning and aligning of patterned carpet until one day I was asked by an old country installer to travel to Brisbane with him for a job (rubber flooring in a gym).
Quickly, my passion for carpet transitioned to sports flooring. I became committed to being the best and sent myself over to the United States to learn everything I could. My high attention to detail and problem solving on projects saw me offered incredible opportunities for installing rubber flooring on some major jobs (that has coined Julius Flooring as one of the “leading gym flooring specialists”).
JULIUS FLOORING TODAY
We’ve proudly traveled throughout Australia working on an incredible portfolio of sporting spaces and have taken our skills internationally across the US, NZ, UK & Dubai. We’ve even traveled internationally to train other flooring installers as a testament to our specialized skills.
We always say: ‘We want to be the best people that do the best work’. For us, that means going above and beyond the standard install service, creating a blanket of trust, and delivering lifelong dreams for our clients. We undoubtedly LOVE what we do in sports flooring and are always excited to get our hands on the next creative opportunity.
